My partner and I had been together for quite a long time and hadn’t had kids yet. At one point, our parents actually gave up on us giving them grandkids. In fact, they didn’t believe us when we told them the good news about being pregnant!
I knew that I really wanted to find a way to earn a living and have flexibility to be there for our kids. I had a lot of time to think about what I might create in my own life and career, using my skills and interests to serve my family’s needs. What I didn’t know was that having kids was a huge push toward my purpose and a passion that I didn’t even realize I had.
Of course, I wanted to be a great parent, so I set out on a journey to learn everything that I could about parenting in a way that felt right to me. While I was on maternity leave, that’s when I started to put it all together. My new-found parenting passion could be the business I’d been dreaming of!
Slowly, I was learning how to parent in a calm, respectful and more conscious way. It was super hard to do all of the research by myself so I created a group of “gentle parents” with the intention of finding a mentor to guide me.
Ironically there weren’t any mentors that I could find in my little online community. Everyone was kind-of fumbling around, looking for the same answers that I was.
So I found myself as the mentor, sharing all the new ideas I was discovering. With all of the knowledge I’d found, I offered a workshop on the topic of parenting… and the exciting part is that people came and paid me for it! That was my first experience in starting a business doing this parenting coach thing that I was so passionate about.
I followed the breadcrumbs, took several intensive personal development courses and learned even more. A few years and several programs later and today I’m a parenting coach, helping people who are struggling in their relationship with their kids.
Now, on a more personal note (as if that whole journey wasn’t enough of a deep-dive into my life!) here are a few fun facts about me as a human:
- I really do dance like nobody’s watching, even if they are!
- Physical risks scare the pants off me.
- Peppermints make me sneeze. Weird, I know.
- My partner and I have been together for 21+ years and we’re better than ever.
- I spent a year abroad at the age of 16.
- I’m not domestically-inclined. Although I *can* do it, I’d much rather create a plan for world domination (through positive parenting).
- I’m a recovering perfectionist. (Did I spell that right? Maybe I should double-check?? Naw. It’s good enough!)
Enough about me… If you’re ready to learn evidence-based strategies to parent your kids in a way that is loving, mutually respectful and grows confident kids into happy adults, click the button below and let’s get started!
